Why no native builds
TiviMate is built as an Android TV app. Windows and Roku run different platforms with no native port, so every path below is a workaround with real trade-offs — not a hidden official release.
Windows via emulator
- BlueStacks path: install the emulator, sign into Google Play, install TiviMate, add the playlist.
- Windows 11 WSA path: enable the subsystem and Developer Mode, connect with ADB, and sideload the official APK.
- Prefer the emulator for simplicity and WSA for a leaner setup with command-line comfort.
Roku options
- Mirror an Android screen to the TV for zero-cost viewing with remote-UX loss.
- Plug an Android TV stick into a spare HDMI port for the full native experience.
- Do not chase sideloading guides for Roku OS — the platform does not allow it.
Honest limits
Emulators add overhead, mirroring degrades control, and every workaround needs more upkeep than a native install. For supported devices, return to TiviMate setup instead of forcing these paths.
Workaround trade-offs
| Route | Strength | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Windows emulator such as BlueStacks | Simplest Windows path | Emulator overhead |
| Windows Subsystem for Android with ADB | Leaner setup | Needs command-line comfort |
| Roku screen mirroring | Zero extra cost | Degraded remote control |
| Android TV stick over HDMI | Native experience | Extra hardware |
